The late 70's and early 80's will forever be known as a transformative and successful time in the history of Les Garnets. The club entered the world of modern football with the adoption of artificial lighting, an electronic scoreboard and roofing on the stands behind the goals. On the pitch the club secured a historic league and cup triple in the 1978-'79 season with a free flowing team made up out of prolific goalscorers such as Marc Schnyder, Hansjörg Pfister, Umberto Barberis and Dutch midfielder Piet Hamberg – The latter of which scored the decisive 3-2 goal over Young Boys to take the Swiss Cup home. Les Garnets would go on to add 2 more cups and a fifteenth league title to their palmarès in following years.
